Sales include 40 percent discounts on apparel, shoes and accessories, 20 percent off of furniture, 10 percent off appliances, and 20 to 40 percent off of jewelry. Wards, in business for more than 125 years, will close more than 250 stores in 30 states. Five local stores will be affected, including locations at Oak Park Mall, Ward Parkway Shopping Center, Metro North Shopping Center, Blue Ridge Mall and Indian Springs Marketplace.

Inventory to be sold is estimated at nerly $2 billion. At one time, Montgomery Wards had 550 stores nationwide.
