Chubb, a Canadian company with roots in England, has signed for an extra 3,073 sf at its 6,562-sf location in the Northchase Plaza, situated at the intersection of Torrey Chase and FM 1960 in the northwest Houston submarket. Chubb has been officing at the 116,848-sf structure since its July 1999 takeover of Security Data, a 20-year security monitoring provider. The expansion lease runs for seven years while the primary lease expires inthree, Tom Walters, Chubb general manager, told GlobeSt.com. Wanda Wilson and Marci Phillips of PM Realty Group in Houston have handled the transaction for building owner Koll Bren Schreiber Realty Advisors.
The center will be up and running Jan. 31. Metzger Construction is the general contractor.
By establishing the center, Chubb will be able to expand its service area in the southern US. Its multi-tenant commercial portfolio previously had been concentrated in Texas. The facility will be monitoring security and access for thousands of client sites, says Walters.The four-story Northchase Plaza, built in 1982, has a 13% vacancy rate and is one of 50 Houston properties, totaling 5.2 million sf, owned by Koll Bren Schreiber Realty Advisors.
