Earful of Books Tickets 2001 for Expansion

AUSTIN-Earful of Books, an audiobooks chain from Austin, is headed to Oregon for the first leg of its expansion. The company will open three stores in the next 18 months in Oregon, a new market, and has 31 under contract in its existing lineup of states.

AUSTIN-Earful of Books Inc., an Austin-based audiobooks chain, has opened its first Oregon store in the Portland suburb of Beaverton.

The bookstore is located at 14700 S.W. Murray Scholls Dr and is the first of three planned for the Portland area in the next 18 months. Customers can rent or purchase up to 7,000 titles on cassette or compact disc and order from another 65,000 titles. The Beaverton store is expected to have about 5,000 members by the end of the year. The location features a sound dome for customers to preview their choices without headphones and without disturbing other customers. The chain has more than 110,000 members.
