Disney Opens New Retail, Entertainment Center Offering Major Tenants a Lot of Space

ANAHEIM, CA-Downtown Disney, a 300,000-sf retail, dining and entertainment complex opened last week with a mix of Disney-owned tenants, movie theaters, restaurants and boutique shops.

ANAHEIM, CA-More than five years of planning and construction have culminated in a $1.4-billion, 55-acre project by the Walt Disney Company that includes a new theme park and an additional hotel. Although those segments of the project won’t open until next month, the first phase of the project, known as Downtown Disney, opened Friday to fanfare and a celebrity fundraiser.

Located between the original Disneyland Park and the new California Adventure, Downtown Disney is a 300,000-sf retail, dining and entertainment center set in a garden paradise theme, with a mix of some well-known and some less-known tenants.

“We are very pleased with the quality, diversity and reputation of the operating participants at Downtown Disney,” says Cynthia Harriss, president of the Disneyland Resort.
