One, the Tech Coast Accelerator, is the firm's newest global network of e-commerce development centers. The second, its Production Systems Design Center is a part of its manufacturing practice.

"The firm is widely recognized as a leading consultant to both established companies and start-up companies," says Bob Williams, president of The Irvine Company's industrial division, developer of the business park.

Christiana Shi, the company director who will lead the Tech Coast Accelerator says, "Our new site in this energized community of telecommunications, electronics, and biotech businesses allows us to deepen and expand our relationships in this important region."

Built on 184 acres adjacent to the campus of the University of California, Irvine, the University Research Park offers office, R&D, light manufacturing space. Companies locating at the park establish public-private relationships with the university to share technology and to collaborate in the areas of engineering, computer sciences, business management, bio-medical research and biotechnology. When completed, the park is expected to house 80-100 companies.

Wayne Lamb with CB Richard Ellis' Newport Beach office represented McKinsey in the transaction, while the Irvine Company represented itself.
