Suburban Lodges added 19 hotels in the last quarter. It opened its sixth Suburban Lodge Extra in Chicago. Franchisees opened hotels in Lakeland, FL and Hilton Head, NC for a total 119 Suburban Lodges with 16,000 rooms.

Expanding even faster in numbers and markets is the company's GuestHouse International brand. In a prepared statement, CEO David E. Krischer says "because the development timeline for GuestHouse International is so much shorter than for the Suburban Lodge brand, we expect to see continuing increases in franchising activity."

The GuestHouse brand opened eight hotels in six states in the fourth quarter, including one in Augusta, GA; two each in Alabama and California, and one in Florida and Michigan. For the year, GuestHouse expanded by 58 hotels, an increase of 80%. At year end, the company had 180 Suburban Lodges and 130 GuestHouse International properties open or under development.
