Henley told GlobeSt.com that drkoop.com had occupied up to 80,000 sf of the building at one time. The office had opened in October 1999. Drkoop.com has since sublet 45,000 sf.Drkoop.com will continue to operate out of its Santa Monica, CA headquarters and will move a portion of its sales and business development staff to offices at 5 Great Valley Pkwy. in Malvern, PA in suburban Philadelphia.
The company had outlined in a press release that the office closing and the move will help reduce corporate overhead and put employees near clients and strategic partners. Drkoop.com did not respond to questions from GlobeSt.com. The move will result in a reduction of approximately 45 positions in the Austin area.
Drkoop.com provides online health care information built from information from other websites, media outlets and healthcare portals. The site has more than two million registered users worldwide. The content is featured on Web sites representing more than 420 health-care facilities nationwide.
