Concord Takes from San Jose Redevelopment Agency for New Planning Director

CONCORD, CA-James Forsberg, the new director, was a key player in the development of San Jose Arena, the Tech Museum of Innovation and San Jose Repertory Theatre. Before San Jose, Forsberg held planning positions in Southern California and Arizona.

CONCORD, CA-A 12-year veteran of the San Jose Redevelopment Agency has been selected to lead this city’s planning and economic development department. James Forsberg, an 11-year employee of the agency and its former assistant executive director, assumed his new role this week.

As the city’s new director of planning and economic development, Forsberg will manage a staff of 18 and oversee all new economic developments, including the construction of the Concord Avenue parking garage and the development of Legacy Partners luxury apartments. Forsberg will also be trying to revitalize the city’s downtown, which has struggles to retain businesses. In addition, he will work with the JFK University on the proposed joint-use library to be located at the university site.
