Commercial Real Estate Professionals Buying Technology That Add Real Value

LOS ANGELES-The commercial real estate industry is embracing technology and online information services. However, GlobeSt.com's national editor, John Salustri, warns that survivors in the online information business will those offering products with real value to the industry.

LOS ANGELES-The commercial real estate industry was slow to embrace technology, but now that it has, it’s not likely to go back to doing business the old way. At least that seemed to be the consensus of those real estate professionals attending Friday’s Real Estate 2001 conference, sponsored by the Real Estate Conference Group, when asked that question by John Stanfill, president/CEO of PropertyFirst.com, an online database of available commercial properties nationwide.

Dennis DeAndre, founder and president of LoopNet Inc., the Internet’s largest commercial real estate listing service, noted that the extent to which the industry has adopted technology is evident in the fact that virtually all brokers now have an Internet presence.
