The company also announced plans to convert three existing discount stores to the supercenter format. These locations include Olathe, KN; Liberty and Lee's Summit, MO. With the conversion of these three stores, Wal-Mart will have nine supercenters in the metropolitan area.
This year, the company expects to add 180 supercenters nationwide. The company is also adding more goods and services to its supercenters. These will include large appliances, such as refrigerators, washers and dryers. The company is adding gasoline stations to some of its locations. Some local stores are being considered for the expanded store concept.
