John Gates, vice president, of Staubach's Southwest Corporate Services office told GlobeSt.com the move had been necessitated by an expiring lease in Dallas' Brookhollow section at an office building. A changing tenant base at the old location had sparked the decision by the 100-year-old nonprofit agency, says Gates. The agency had been founded to care for children of women who worked in turn-of-the-century cotton mills in Dallas. Today, it's one of the nation's leading child-care operators.
The new headquarters space has been vacant for some time, says Gates. It had been occupied by Verizon.
The Twin Towers complex, consisting of about 500,000 sf at 8585 N. Stemmons Freeway, is owned by AGBRI Twin Towers LP. Gates and Staubach's Carl Ewert, executive vice president, had represented the agency in the lease talks while Ted Headings of Jones Lang LaSalle Inc. had acted on behalf of the building owner.
In another recent Staubach lease signing, the retail division has inked a pact for 12,000 sf in the Shops at Soncy in Amarillo. The new tenant is the Shoe Carnival, which has been represented by Adam Schiller, vice president of Staubach Retail Services' Dallas office.
