The Altamonte Springs, FL-based general contractor is starting the year with an enviable work backlog of $12 million compared with a backlog of $6.5 million in January 2000. The suburban Orlando firm also hopes to be taking on jobs this year in Cleveland, Nashville, Texas and California.
The company is so confident the market will remain buoyant, it is going ahead with construction plans on a new headquarters building in south Orlando and plans to occupy the structure by year end.
"We are currently optimistic that we can achieve a business volume in the $30 million to $32 million range during 2001," company founder/president J. Michael Pertree tells GlobeSt.com.
Pertree Constructors did $28 million in 2000, its highest contract volume posting since it started business. In 1999, the firm booked $23.7 million. The contractor's niche has been projects in the $200,000 to $5 million range. The firm has completed projects and/or is licensed in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio. Rhode Island, Tennessee, Virginia and Puerto Rico.
Pertree has broken ground on two new projects, a $1.5 million, 52,300-sf design/construction job of PalmBay Center at Airport International Park Orlando, and a $900,000, 15,000-sf design/build office/warehouse facility for Gale Industries Inc. in Jacksonville, FL. Both projects have scheduled June completion dates.
Architectural Resource Group in Altamonte Springs is designing the Gale job. Ronnie Maddox is the project manager; Gerald Donahue is project superintendent. Pertree's Andrew D. Owens is project manager on the PalmBay Center assignment.
