Opening in the former Bloomsday Books site at 6229 Brookside Blvd. is Bella Napoli, which is scheduled to open in April. The Italian market and deli will be owned and operated by Jake Imperiale. He managed Carollo's Italian Grocery in the River Market area north of downtown for the past three years. Bloomsday Books is relocating to the Crestwood Shops on 55th Street next month.
In the Prairie Village Shopping Center, the Osteria at Villagio has closed. The restaurant is owned by Gregg Johnson, operator of the Osteria II Centro at 5101 Main, just south of the Country Club Plaza. Johnson is a long-time local restaurant owner, having owned Minsky's pizza locations throughout the metro area.
