The announcement comes just two days after Weitzman has set the stage for a new operation, Cencor Urban Properties. The details of the CSWG alliance and the new division, being set up in the firm's Austin office, are being closely guarded.
Herbert D. Weitzman, chairman and CEO, says, "Working together, we plan to represent some of the most high-profile specialty projects and retailers in the market." The teaming is not being classified as a merger, acquisition or partnership, an inside source explains.
CSWG will retain its name in the move. The six-year-old business will continue to office at its Dallas North Tollway location. CSWG specializes in consulting for high-end retailers and developers as well as in design and construction management. CSWG has handled owner-developer representation for Utica Square in Tulsa, OK, and Austin's Aboretum Market.
CSWG's power-packed client list practically speaks for itself: Saks, Williams-Sonoma, Coach, Baccarat, Brighton, Brooks Brothers, Casual Corner, Elisabeth, Liz Claiborne, Harold's, Guess?, Dana Buchman and Nickelodeon. Sorrels carved out his professional niche when he helped lead the original rollout of the Disney Store. At the time, he had been senior vice president of property development and business strategy for Walt Disney. Sorrels also has worked as senior vice president of real estate and property development for Ann Taylor Inc. and vice president of real estate for Zale Corp.
It's a natural fit, says Weitzman's team, which has represented the creme de la creme of specialty projects in Dallas. Weitzman's specialty projects have included such tony clients as the Plaza at Preston Center, Village on the Parkway, Old Town in the Village, Galleria Dallas, the Crescent, Turtle Creek Village and Highland Park Village.
