The city council unanimously approved a plan this week that would expand the city's eastern boundary on both sides of Old Battlefield Road. Ultimately, the city would like to acquire nearly 1,600 acres of county land into the city.

Developers have made at least two proposals for housing communities in the area. The proposed Valley View project would have 400 homes, a hotel and a golf course. Another 81-home development has been proposed for the old Brower Dairy site.
