CHARLOTTE-Two Charlotte-area companies are building a total 330,000 sf of new factory space that could employ up to 350 workers.

H Power Corp. of Monroe, NC, 30 miles southeast of Charlotte, is budgeting $5 million to build an 80,000-sf plant to make power supplies. The Clifton, NJ-based manufacturer expects to be in production by mid-year with an initial crew of 50 that could grow to over 300 in three years, according to a published report. About half of the startup employees will be experienced professionals, some earning $50,000 a year. Production workers will earn about $12 an hour.
