The restaurant chain paid Orlando lawyer/investor Hyman Lake $450,000 or $9.38 per sf for the land. John J. D'Aloise of Colliers Arnold Orlando negotiated for the seller. John Dettore represented KFC.
The new Kentucky Fried unit will be in one of Orlando's strongest retail sector. Florida Mall, which recently expanded by 600,000 sf, plans an additional expansion later this year with Seattle-based Nordstrom as the anchor. When complete in 2003, the mall will be the second largest in Florida at 2.2 million sf, next to the 2.4 million-sf Sawgrass Mall in Broward County, South Florida, according to Grubb & Ellis Co.
