Roberts' last gig was vice president and senior account manager with Union Bank of California's Real Estate Industries Group, specializing in financing for REITS, real estate operating companies, pension funds and regional and national private development companies. Roberts says his goal with SVB is to expand the bank's profile in nearby communities.

Silicon Valley Bank largely focuses on serving on technology and biotechnology companies with financing and credit needs. It operates throughout Silicon Valley, Santa Clara and Palo Alto, with other state branches in Irvine, Los Angeles, Napa Valley, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbara and Sonoma. The bank also has branches in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
