HIGH POINT, NC-Samet Corp., one of this city's largest furniture manufacturers, plans to build a new 250,000-sf plant on 24 company-owned acres at an estimated hard construction cost of $17 million. Ground-breaking is set for March, according to a published report.

The plant will be built on Swathmore Road, across from a four-building facility operated by Brayton Co., another furniture maker. High Point is 70 miles north of Downtown Charlotte.

When the Samet plant is completed, employees will be housed under one roof instead of having to walk from building to building to complete assignments, the company says in a published report. The campus will be extensively landscaped and the facility itself will allow more natural light to enter the premises.
