Average daily room rates crept up in all seven submarkets. Central Florida's average rate of $85.49 per day topped the same 1999 month of $82.38 by 3.8%.
The Lake Buena Vista market, home of Walt Disney World and three dozen other name attractions, posted the best occupancy level, 78.4% versus 76% in November 1999. Lake Buena Vista also had the highest average room rate, $114.44 compared to $110.30 previously, a jump of 3.8%.
Other markets in the positive occupancy column are Central Orlando, 60.1%, up from $53.7%; and East Kissimmee, 56.9%, up from 54%. The four markets losing occupancy are North Orlando, 59.9%, down from 62.1%; International Drive, the area's major tourist corridor, 68.2%, down from 69%; South Orlando, 60.6%, down from 62.2%; and West Kissimmee, 61.5%, down from 63%.
In the all-positive daily room rate column were North Orlando, $$65.40 versus $63.48 in November 1999; Central Orlando, $66.83 ($62.55); International Drive, $83.03 ($79.40); East Kissimmee, $45.50 ($45.19); South Orlando, $68.45 ($68.30); and West Kissimmee, $60.08 ($58.27).
