Safeway supermarket will occupy 49,194 sf of the renovated center. Scheduled to open in February, the new Safeway, which is one of the center's anchor stores, will host a branch office for Sun Trust Bank. Additional anchors include CVS ,which will occupy 10,581 sf, and Chevy Chase Bank with 2,050 sf.
Other shops include Sumner Place Shoe Repair, Spiro's Barber Shop, and Ballet Petite, which is a combined studio, accessories, party and performance store. Eisner Company negotiated these leases for Miller.
Miller Companies is making substantial exterior renovations, which consists of one level below grade and 1.5 levels above grade plus additional retail space, according to company officials. The mixed-use center calls for the creation of a community-centered atmosphere where community residents and workers can gather a variety of activities. The renovated shops will also provide added services including a community room.
