The plan also envisions mixing residential and business purposes, with a projected 8,000 new jobs in the area in the next two decades. It proposes denser construction with more mixed-use buildings -- an effort mirrored by many Silicon Valley cities, notably San Jose which is undertaking a massive downtown revamp in the name of urbanization. San Ramon is already seeing spillover effects from Silicon Valley, with residents increasingly choosing not only to move but also to work there due to traffic and cost-of-living concerns. The General Plan Review Commission meets tonight at 7 p.m.
