Site for Second Community-College Branch Considered

NEWARK, CA-Officials at Ohlone Community College are eyeing a 43-acre former salt-ponds parcel here as a potential site for a new campus devoted to high-tech teaching. The city of Newark has been leasing the land from Cargill since last year.

The city of Newark has been leasing the land from Cargill since last year. It is located near Don Edwards San Francisco Bay Wildlife Refuge, off the Dumbarton Bridge. Considering the sensitive environmental nature of the property, it will likely take much mulling before City Council members before any actual development is seen. The new campus is being touted as a center for high-tech education.
