Detroit Planning and Development Department Receives $3.5-Mil Grant

DETROIT-Two key development activities are being undertaken by the city planning and development department. Deputy Mayor Freman Hendrix and Paul A. Bernard, director of planning and development, have accepted $3.5 million from the Michigan EconomicDevelopment Corporation (MEDC) as part of the state agency’s Core Communities Initiative.

The funds will support development of the I-94 Industrial Park, a 150-acre parcel in a Renaissance Zone located in the east central sector of the city. It also will help the city implement its strategic title clearance program for the 43,000 properties (the majority, deeded by the state) in the city’s inventory.
