Fremont, on the northern edge of Silicon Valley at the intersection of major area arteries Interstate 680 and 880, is rapidly becoming a reasonable alternative for rent-wrecked high-tech firms.

Digital Fountain is trading in its 10,000-sf headquarters in San Francisco's trendy Potrero Hill area for a space nearly three times as big in Fremont's brand-new Civic Center Place. This facility is near the central business district and close to BART.

The company would not disclose lease terms, but has said that it plans to move by spring.

Lured by proximity to Silicon Valley and a calming suburban environment, other companies are also choosing to relocate from urban centers to Fremont.
