High-Tech Firm Heads to East Bay

FREMONT, CA-Digital Fountain, which uses a Web-based platform to combine the Internet with television capabilities, says it will relocate operations here from San Francisco.

FREMONT, CA-Another high-tech firm is getting out of pricey San Francisco. While the much-discussed economic slowdown has not been fully acknowledged, Digital Fountain has decided that City by the Bay is too expensive. Digital Fountain, a firm that delivers rich content (video) to television-scale audiences via the Internet, said this month that it is leaving its moving it headquarters from San Francisco headquarters to a less-expensive location in Fremont, CA.

Fremont, on the northern edge of Silicon Valley at the intersection of major area arteries Interstate 680 and 880, is rapidly becoming a reasonable alternative for rent-wrecked high-tech firms.

Digital Fountain is trading in its 10,000-sf headquarters in San Francisco’s trendy Potrero Hill area for a space nearly three times as big in Fremont’s brand-new Civic Center Place. This facility is near the central business district and close to BART.
