New Automated Garage Included in Suburban Condo Proposal

ROYAL OAK, MI-The Detroit suburb would get the first automatic parking garage as part of new $30-million condominium complex. The garage costs about the same as a normal parking structure but can park twice as many cars.

ROYAL OAK, MI-City Commissioners reviewed a plan Feb. 5 for construction of North America’s first automatic parking garage, as part of the 11-story Oak Terrace Condominiums project. The 80-unit condominium project would include a garage that parks cars like a valet.

A driver parks their car, which is moved away and parked by a series of elevators and moving floors. The Broad Group of Detroit, developers of the 250,000-sf project, said the garage costs about the same as a normal parking structure, only it makes more money because it can park twice the number of cars.
