Cornell West is the first three-story, tilt-up office structure to be built in the Portland market, according to Bruce Wood, director of Opus Northwest/Cornell West project. "This technique is widely used in California and is not uncommon in the Seattle area," he says, "but is a unique product type for Portland." Typically a warehouse and flex-solution developer, Wood says Opus decided to pioneer three-story, tilt office construction in the Portland area because it can be built quickly and is cost effective.

According to Wood, Opus has another three-story, class A tilt office building under construction on Durham Road in Tigard. This facility, Southwest Center, is a 92,000-sf Cornell West companion property scheduled for completion in late spring.

Leasing at both Cornell West and Southwest Center is being handled by Opus Northwest real estate manager Harry Murphy, in conjunction with the local office of Grubb & Ellis.
