The company is building the Southfield TechneCenter II at Lahser Road between Eight and Nine Mile roads in Southfield. The project calls for about 200,000-sf for telecom use.
"We are using some specialized fiber optic ducting, designed specifically for telecom use. Our buildings will also be flexible enough for other users," Pomeroy President Gerald Reinhart told GlobeSt.com.
He already has one building, at 40,760 sf, built and about ready to begin leasing. He said MCI WorldCom will be leasing space for a network information network in a second, 44,000-sf building, which will open in the summer.
The company has not really seen a lowering of telecom hotel demand, Reinhart said. He said the company has active users for the space that is available, and they're working on deals for the space that's coming online.Reinhart declined to give out the building costs for the hotels. He said the lease rates will be between $17 psf and $19 psf, triple net.
