Ambling Development Co. and ApaQuelypse Development Group will build the University Courtyard Apartments at the intersection of Boldgett Avenue and Canfield Street. The project is being financed through tax-exempt bonds issued through the City of Houston Higher Education Finance Corp. The law firm of Vinson & Elkins has handled the bond sale, which has brought in more than $11 million.
Dr. Willie Marshall, associate provost for student affairs, says "this project is a key element in assisting the university with student retention." The units will feature four bedrooms and two baths.
The apartments will be ready to occupy in the fall. Ambling Development is a subsidiary of Valdosta, GA-based Ambling Cos. Inc. and has built University Courtyard Apartments in Valdosta; Murfreesboro, TN; Lafayette, LA; Huntington, WV; Athens, OH; College Park, MD; Boone, NC; Tallahassee, FL; Dover, DE; and Newark DE.
