The council Tuesday decided to revote on one of 28 council votes that may have been tainted by allegations that former Councilwoman Valerie Stallings—who resigned last month—had improper financial relationships with ballpark developer and San Diego Padres owner John Moores.
The council will reconsider the rest of the votes at a meeting March 6, after the public has had a chance to revisit contracts and an agreement approved by the council last year, before Stallings resigned.
She resigned Jan. 29 and pleaded guilty to two counts for failing to disclose gifts from Padres owner John Moores, and she had failed to abstain from voting on ballpark development issues.
Five members of the seven-member council are reconsidering the ballpark issue for the first time. Tuesday, they examined a vote on how the city might finance a deal through lease revenue financing over 30 years.
The council adopted 27 resolutions and one ordinance between Dec. 1, 1998 and Dec. 12, 2000, following the Nov. 3, 1998, approval of the ballpark project by 60% of voters.
