Both are expected to open their doors by third quarter 2002. Each hotel will rise six stories; the Marriott Residence Inn will have slightly less than 170 guest rooms, while the Courtyard will have almost 180 rooms, plus an estimated 5,000 sf of meeting area.

The need for hotels in the Newark-Fremont area has increased in recent years as Silicon Valley continues to expand beyond its traditional borders. Many workers commute from faraway homes on a regular basis, renting hotel rooms sporadically or even using hotels as a second home during the workweek. Other new hotels recently opening in the area include the Hawthorne Suites and W Suites, both located near Interstate 880.
