The latest pact calls for subsidiary US OnLine to provide high-speed Internet access to seven multifamily complexes, totaling 2,000 units. US OnLine currently provides video services to the units.

The deal, Rob Solomon, USOL Holdings' CEO, says "represents a significant expansion of our Houston portfolio." USOL specializes in providing telecommunications and entertainment services to the multifamily housing industry. Services include local and long distance telephone, cable television and high-speed Internet access. U.S. OnLine currently has clients in Austin, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Denver, Portland, San Antonio, Washington D.C. as well as Houston.

Walden, previously known as Walden Residential Properties Inc. had been a multifamily REIT before its acquisition in February 2000 by Olympus Real Estate Corp. Walden currently owns and manages middle-income apartments in Atlanta, Austin, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, Phoenix and San Antonio. The Dallas-based Walden portfolio consists of 140 apartment communities with 39,112 units.
