The San Francisco Dental Society and the San Francisco Medical Society argued against the move, saying it would end the building's use as a medical facility. However, the structure has been largely ignored for years and has suffered high vacancy rates.

Turner also took up space recently in another historic building in Oakland. The company agreed to lease 17,000 sf on the first four floors in the PG&E building on Clay Street.
