Eco Associates Buys Online Golf Retailer; Team's Heading to Austin

AUSTIN-Eco Associates will be moving its latest acquisition closer to its home in Austin. Chipshot.com will close its Sunnyvale, CA operation at the end of March. The search is on for headquarters and manufacturing space here.

AUSTIN-Eco Associates will leverage its takeover of a California-based online retailer, which specializes in golf merchandise, by setting up a new company with an Austin headquarters. The firm, Chip Shot Golf Corp., will close its Sunnyvale doors at the end of March. The new company will assume Chipshot.com’s name.

Eco is searching for manufacturing space for its custom golf equipment division and a headquarters site in Austin for the new operation, a company source tells GlobeSt.com. The source says it’s not been determined if a site will be leased or purchased. A 25-employee team is being assembled for the Austin startup, some transferring from California.

Eco Associates, the Austin-based affiliate of Interfase Capital, has bought the firm’s intellectual property, a 250,000-customer database and its e-commerce technology platform. Chipshot.com’s branding is such that it’s critical to retain the name for its loyal following of online purchasers.
