Poll: Catching Bad Guys and Fixing Schools More Important Than Downtown Ballpark

SAN DIEGO-A recently released poll reveals that two of the county's top-shelf public projects are lower priorities among voters than addressing social issues.

SAN DIEGO-Two of the county’s top-shelf public projects–construction of a Downtown ballpark and a new international airport–are lower priorities among voters than addressing more pressing social issues, according to a recently released poll. Energy conservation, health care, improving education and battling crime all ranked above building a Downtown Ballpark District and a new international airport, according to the poll of more than 500 registered San Diego County voters by Irvine-based Pacific Opinions.

Of the 206 voters surveyed within the city’s limits, just 12% say the ballpark should be a top city priority. This project has been hammered by political corruption scandal and hamstrung by concerns over the energy crisis and fears of an impending recession.
