Broadband Gateways Expanding Park Ventura Operation

PLANO, TX-Broadband Gateways has its 2001 strategy in full swing, as build out continues on a 29,000-sf expansion of its lease at Park Ventura Office Center. As the company gradually moves into the space, the park developer is excavating for a third building and full build out.

PLANO, TX-Broadband Gateways has taken on the role of lead tenant at Wilcox Realty Group’s Park Ventura Office Center in Plano. The network device designer has doubled its leased site, now occupying 65,000 sf, in the park’s second building, Bob Bauer, Broadband’s vice president of operations, tells GlobeSt.com. The 29,000-sf office space had been leased to PageNet, which had held the contract but never occupied the spot, says Bauer. Broadband Gateways is holding a 10-year lease for the site.

The added space, which includes a lab area, is undergoing build out by Scott & Reid Contractors. As work progresses, Broadband plans to gradually move employees into the completed areas. The firm now employs 120 people at the Park Boulevard location, but has been adding about one employee per day for some time, he says.

The move is in keeping with Broadband’s 2001 strategy to step up its operation. Greg Jones, Broadband’s president and CEO, says this year will see a five-fold jump in the number of multi-service gateway units being shipped, with growth expected to increase by about 200% by 2005.
