DETROIT-The Detroit metropolitan area office market is adding 1.4 million sf ofspace in 2001, according to local commercial real estate brokers. Cities bustling with activity include Ann Arbor, Farmington Hills, Troy and Auburn Hills.

In Ann Arbor, the 112,000-sf Plymouth Green is the largest project in a submarket that will see 255,000-sf of new office space. In Farmington Hills, five buildings are coming on line in the 40,000- to 60,000-sf range, giving the submarket an additional 351,000 sf of new space this year. In Troy, Becker Ventures is developing a three-building, 250,000-sf complex at I-75 and 14 Mile Road. The Becker Group will occupy 140,000-sf there by May.
