There are currently three existing buildings at PGMC and the new building will bring the complex's inventory to 1.4 million sf when completed. Weihe Design Group of Washington, DC is the architect on Metro 4. The quadrangle was originally conceived in the 1970s and the style of the new building will break from the specific designs of the original three, designed by Kennedy Center architect Edward Durell Stone.
NCHS, the federal government's principal vital health and statistics agency, is headquartered here and also has offices in Research Triangle Park, NC and Atlanta. The agency was formed in 1960 when the National Office of Vital Statistics and the National Health Survey merged.
