The startup company, Commercial Information Exchange Inc., is owned by the board. "CIE is being formed as a realtor-owned real estate property information exchange," Charlie King, head of King Industrial Realty and newly named chairman of the 13-member board, tells GlobeSt.com.

"The information company is being set up because of the concern of local brokers not having control over property information," King says. "They provide that information to third parties, then have to buy it back. Or, in getting their information from third parties, they find it is incorrect."

Also on the board are J. William Butler of JWB Realty Services, Jim Byrd of CRESA Partners of Georgia, Mike Elting of Cushman & Wakefield, Clark Gore of Holder Properties Inc., Edward Gullerserian of CB Richard Ellis Inc., William Hollett of Equity Office, Todd Long of Carter & Associates, Leigh Martin of CB Richard Ellis Inc., Robert Mathews of Colliers Cauble & Co., Richard Myrick of the Myrick Co., James Philpot of Richard Bowers & Co. and Roy Plott of Georgia Power Economic Development.
