The project will deliver in summer 2002. The expansion calls for 10 classrooms, computer research labs and administrative space. The high-tech, state-of-the-art facility will be linked to the existing school via skywalks.

The project is considered key to the future of the engineering and computer science department. It also will serve a vital resource for the North Dallas telecommunications industry.

Dallas-based Centex has jumpstarted the year by snagging premier contracts in Dallas and Austin. In addition to the university expansion, Centex has been awarded the Austin Museum of Art project and Dallas' new police station, which is under construction on the city's south side.
