"With heavy penetration in its major territories of the Southeast and Northeast, the company is targeting sites west of the Mississippi for the bulk of its growth in coming years," spokesperson Melissa O'Brien tells GlobeSt.com.
Currently, 240 Hampton properties are in the western half of the country. The firm expects to double that number over the next three years. Last year, 89 Hampton properties opened around the country, making a total of 1,073 hotels with 111,231 guest rooms in 49 states. This year the company expects to open another 80 and to have another 90-to 95 under contract.
The average hard construction cost of a Hampton Inn, is $55,000 to $65,000 per room and for Hampton Inn & Suites, $60,000 to $70,000 per room, excluding land costs, according to the company. The investment, however, is born individually by franchisees, who own and operate 99.9% of the Hampton properties.
Memphis is about 320 miles northwest of Downtown Atlanta.
