Brenneke has acknowledged talking with Saks, but GlobeSt is thus far unable to confirm details of the negotiations, with both Brenneke and Saks declining to comment any further. Sources say the two are in early-stage negotiations, which would back up their reticence to speak.

The proposed $100 million development, dubbed Willamette Landing, is a 21-story mixed-use project that would include a 160-room hotel and penthouse residential units. The site is a parking lot located on east side of Second Avenue, between Pine and Stewart streets. The project is in the permitting phase. A master use permit application was filed in November.
