The Fairmont San Francisco Hotel is owned by Maritz, Wolff & Co., a hotel investment partnership that owns several exclusive hotels. As part of the restoration, crews uncovered original white and gray marble floors, ornate domes and intricate design work throughout the hotel.

In addition to the marble floors, the lobby area was also restored to its original state with alabaster walls and moldings, making the room lighter. Each of the hotel's 591 rooms and suites, including the famed Penthouse Suite, has been refurbished and each will include marble bathrooms.

Finally, the Laurel Court – where the domes and colorful mosaic tile floor are located – has been refurbished into a bar and restaurant and the Venetian Rooms, where Tony Bennett made "I left my Heart in San Francisco" famous, has been renovated to emphasize its original beaux art design.
