LOS ANGELES-After more than 10 years in West Los Angeles, construction-management giant Tishman Construction Corp. has decided to relocate to Downtown so it can play a bigger role in the CBD’s fledgling comeback. According to terms of the 10-year lease, the company will occupy 10,500 sf of office space on the 25th floor of 444 South Flower Street. Tishman supervised construction of the building in 1982, working closely with architect A.C. Martin and the building’s original owner/developer Rockefeller Center. “It’s therefore entirely fitting that we return to Downtown Los Angeles,” says Thomas W. McCaslin, Tishman’s EVP of West Coast Operations.
The move will allow the firm, which has occupied 6,000 sf at 11400 Olympic Blvd., to expand its headquarters. It will also put the company geographically closer to Downtown’s burgeoning redevelopment movement. “There is a definite renaissance in Downtown, with the development of major cultural and entertainment facilities such as Staples Arena and Disney Hall as well as a resurgence in residential construction,” McCaslin says.
