He says he will continue to run the office in the neighborhood of Los Angeles, "but will travel every-other-week between LA and Manhattan." Brant notes the decision to relocate the headquarters was made for several reasons, including the company's relationship with Vornado and increasing involvement with projects here and also because chairman Sheldon Gordon decided to move to Greenwich, CT.

"I am a native of Southern California," he says, "and we have projects on both coasts, so I'll stay out there to manage that office. The new office will be run by Sheldon and his son, Scott Gordon, who is vice president of development and leasing."

Brant explains the company has taken on consulting work, beginning with consulting with the Mohegan tribe in Connecticut on its retail space within the Mohegan Sun Casino. "There we've helped with the design, finding tenants and will be involved in management, but only for their retail space."

Predominantly the company develops projects that it owns. Bridgemarket, a 95,000 sf restaurant and retail complex under the 59th Street Bridge here, which houses Guastavino's Restaurant, The Conran Shop and the largest Food Emporium in the city, is one such example. "We conceived it, leased it, built and own it," he explains.

Gordon-Brant now is working with Vornado in a consulting capacity on projects such as construction at the former Alexander's site at Lexington and 59th Street, leasing for the former Bradlees' space at E. 14th Street in Union Square and development in the Penn Station District with tearing down and creating new retail space to upgrade the district. In fact, the company's current plans in the city all involve Vornado properties.

"We're working on our own developments in Miami, London, Los Angeles, Toronto and San Francisco," he says. In addition to its own projects and consulting, "We do offer brokerage services" he adds.
