The formal name change is subject to shareholder approval at the annual meeting to be held May 17. Until that time, Pulte will conduct business under the name Pulte Homes.

William J. Pulte, founder of the company, said aligning the company's name with its brand efforts provides the customer a clear signal of who Pulte is and what it does. Pulte Homes recently commenced a brand development program, including a newly designed corporate logo and a series of related brand launch activities.

The company has introduced new standards to deliver a consistent look and message to the customer. Brand development projects have included a national home sweepstakes and sponsorship of a parade float at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Pulte Homes stock will continue to be traded under its current stock symbol, PHM.

The company has operations in 41 markets across the United States, Argentina and Puerto Rico. It is also the fifth largest builder in Mexico. Over its history, the company has constructed more than 275,000 homes.
