New Facility Will Allow Companies to Preview Operations

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI-Sterling Contractors is building a 20,000-sf manufacturing facility to let molding companies test their set-up layouts and train their staff before their operations begin.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI-Sterling Contractors, a building and electrical contracting company based in Clinton Township, is building a state-of-the-art new facility here for automotive supply companies that are looking to test their molding operations before relocating. The 20,000-sf building on Central Industrial Drive near 23 Mile Road will act as a model plastics molding location to allow customers to bring in their equipment, resources and materials and test their set-up layouts and train their staff. The companies would be doing this while their facilities are being constructed, or to determine the architectural needs of a new facility.

“Our main customers will be those companies that need space to know how their equipment will work in a new facility, or for overseas companies that are interested in locating here and want to preview their operations before they move,” says Steve Pierik, project development manager for Sterling. “The space will be completely prepped as if it was an operating injection molding facility.”

Interested customers would be able to complete pre-launch procedures, testing, training, everything that needs to be done while a new facility is on the design board, Pierik says.
