The project, which is expected to be completed in August 2002, received approval from Scottsdale's Development Review Board in December. The 29-acre parcel was donated by local businessman Bill Levine in memory of his wife, Ina.
The Jewish Community Campus will be moved from its current location at 40th Street and Shea in northeast Phoenix when the new campus is completed.
The main campus building, designed by Jack Black of the Phoenix office of Langdon Wilson Architecture Planning Interiors, will have 12 sides, symbolizing the Star of David. Also, 12 columns will support the facility's main roof--10 inside and two outside to represent the two lost tribes.
The general contractor on the project is Phoenix-based D.L. Withers.
