Riley was the guest speaker at the Westchester County Board of Realtors' Commercial Investment Division meeting held at the board's offices in White Plains. Riley noted that the project will include such retailers as Target, Best Buy, Bed, Bath and Beyond, T.J. Maxx and Old Navy. The Target store will be the retailer's first location in Westchester County.

In addition to the firm's project in Mount Vernon, Riley also updated attendees on the its $100-million Waterfront at Port Chester redevelopment project. He noted that construction has commenced on a 142,000-sf Costco store near the waterfront, which should be completed by October.

He also said that although movie theater operators have been experiencing financial problems, G&S still hopes to secure a deal for a multiplex theater at the Port Chester site. However, he noted that the firm might pull back from its original plan of a 108,000-sf facility with 15 to 18 screens to something smaller. The company struck a deal last year with Sony/Loews to develop a multiplex theater in Port Chester, but the chain has since backed out of that agreement.

Riley stressed that the movie theater along with a 67,000-sf Super Stop & Shop supermarket and approximately 173,000 sf of other retail space and restaurants are to be developed after the Costco store is built. Also part of phase one will be upgrades to the village's waterfront district including the development of 110 boat slips.
